October is National Arts & Humanities Month
The mission of the Sherman Cultural District is to advocate for the arts and artists, improve the built environment, promote arts-based tourism and economic growth, and create opportunity for inclusive cultural and civic engagement with art in all forms.
In September 2018, the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) voted to designate Sherman as an official Texas Cultural District! Sherman celebrated its new status at a ceremony and reception on November 30, 2018. We tell our story through the video submission for our application to the Texas Commission on the Arts Cultural District Program, produced by David Tarvin of Cadence Studios, Sherman. Learn more about the district and its programs, and find your art! The SCD operates with the support of Austin College's Center for Community & Regional Development.
