May 16: Sherman Bird Festival!

The mission of the Sherman Cultural District is to advocate for the arts and artists, improve the built environment, promote arts-based tourism and economic growth, and create opportunity for inclusive cultural and civic engagement with art in all forms.

About SCD

In September 2018, the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) voted to designate Sherman as an official Texas Cultural District! View our submission video, produced by David Tarvin of Cadence Studios, Sherman, and learn more about the district and its programs.

Our birds are about to take flight!

We're excited to showcase our new flock of bird sculptures

in the Sherman Cultural District during our May 16 Sherman Bird Festival. Sculpture Dedication will be at 1 p.m. at the Sherman Public Library's Harmony Park. See more on our Bird Festival page for what's in store for day of celebrating all things bird!

Our programs

We advocate for and collaborate with cultural arts partners to strengthen a lively, imaginative, and evolving artistic hub that engages all people in the creative life of the community. Grant funding and community support make possible the unique programming we offer.


Things to do

The calendar is always busy in the Cultural District and beyond! Attend a live event, discover local art and artists, audition for theater, become a Sher-Town foodie, taste local wines, or visit museums and shops in historic Downtown Sherman.
