My oh my! February is shaping up as a fabulous month in the Sherman Cultural District. No time here for the winter blues … Visitors will find every kind of art to warm the heart and soul.
VISUAL ARTS are in focus with the February Winter Art Tour and Art Dash, featuring works by over 30 artists in 14 locations throughout the district. Tour on your own all month, and come to the artist reception (free) and the Art DASH (tickets $30 on sale here) on Feb. 16, Courthouse Market building.
MUSICAL THEATER takes center stage February 15-24 with Meredith Willson's The Music Man, brought to you by Sherman Community Players in its 70th season. You will want to join the band when you see this amazing production, directed by Josh Harris at the historic Finley Playhouse.
Do you love food? The CULINARY ARTISTS of Downtown Sherman’s restaurants are serving up special Valentine’s Day dinners and treats, and Mardi Gras festivities on Feb. 23 will offer more delicious specialties to sample. Some great New Orleans-style JAZZ will hit a high note that same weekend with performances by the N’Awlins Gumbo Kings at the Sherman Jazz Museum, as well as live Dixieland jazz from the Bourbon Knights at Old Iron Post.
Wait, there’s more …. A mini concert by the Sherman High School Varsity Mixed Choir, Sweetheart Dinner & Dance presented by the Hispanic Heritage, and a Valentine’s version of Downtown Haunted History Tours are on the calendar. Check the calendar listings often for new additions!
We really LOVE the arts in the Sherman Cultural District. Happy Valentine’s Month – go Find YOUR Art!
