CALL FOR ARTISTS: Birds of North Texas "Birds of a Feather Artwalk" in Downtown Sherman

Subject: Call for Art: “Birds of a Feather” Art Walk.
Introduction: The Sherman Cultural District invites artists to submit art for an upcoming curated exhibition titled, “Birds of a Feather.” The exhibition is being held in tandem with the Sherman Bird Festival on May 16, 2026, a celebration of migratory and native birds in Sherman and Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. We are seeking submissions that explore the birds of North Texas with submissions accepted from Feb. 16 to midnight May 1, 2026. The selected work will be displayed during the month of May at assigned local businesses in historic Downtown Sherman. Artists are responsible for their own sales. Artists are encouraged to attend Sherman Bird Festival on May 16, at the host site they are assigned, as a meet and greet event.
Theme eligibility: This call is open to local artists 18 and older from the North Texas area (Including: Cooke, Fannin, and Grayson Counties.) Artwork should be 2D (painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, or digital) that addresses the theme of birds of North Texas, particularly birds that are seen in Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge in Sherman. The theme includes birds, nests, eggs, feathers, etc
Submission Deadline: May 1, 2026 (midnight)
Art Delivery Deadline: May 9, 2026, by 2 p.m. to Sherman Public Library
Prizes: Bird Festival Committee Prize - (2) of $100 each
Images: Artist may submit up to 3 high-resolution images of bird-themed art. Completed Work should not exceed 24” in any dimension including frame. Artwork must be on gallery wrap canvas with finished edges, or framed. All work must be wired for hanging. No sawtooth hangers.

Selection process: Artists will be notified by May 3 of the downtown Sherman location where their work will be displayed. Bird Festival Committee reserves the right to refuse a submission. Selected artwork must be delivered on or before Saturday, May 9, by 2 p.m. to the Sherman Public Library, 429 N. Travis Street, Sherman, TX 75090.
