A.D. a continued friend of Sherman Arts, has picked this show in his Icepack Column. A.D is one of the rare continued supporters of local Philly music. Check out his shows at Monday Night Club. He highlights some of the best of local Philly acts and many others. His night has changed locations from Bar Noir to the Balcony at the Trocadero! The drink specials carried over, and so did that devastatingly fabulous waitress, Needles Jones. Check out the Balcony's website for show info

-BEFORE BOOKING I NEED AT LEAST 8 MP3'S SENT TO shermanarts@gmail.com OR A CURRENT ALBUMS WORTH

-FIRST COME FIRST SERVED
All booking is done first come first serve basis, so if you wait too long to respond the show may not be available any longer.

-NO EXTREMELY LOUD ACTS! (Punk, Metal, etc.)
-BOOKING OUT OF TOWN ACTS
We ask out of town bands to contact locals to see if they are available. It's preferred if you are connected to the band and they can help promote. We can't do any shows with more than 2 out of town acts, and that's if we host 4 acts, If it's a 3 act show then only 1 out of town act

DONATIONS TO SHERMAN
***************************
Sherman Community Arts functions as a collabortaion of sorts. I work in a manner that allows Musicians and Artists certain freedoms that other venues, promoters do not. I work directly with various local artists and musicians as a client driven consulting and promotions. I spend many hours working with various artists & musicians helping them set up tours, shows, cd productions etc.
I also post a ongoing events page that promotes local grass roots events and helps promote the work of many local organizations inlcuding Spiral Q Puppet Theater, The Rotunda, and many more. Over the last year I have put out the Sherman Arts Compilation, which was about a years worth of work.
It was picked by A.D Amorosi as one of 2005's best local cd's of the year, and was featured in articles in City Paper, Philly Weekly, Daily News, and reviewed by Philadelphia magazine. I have also held fundraising events for such organizations as Spiral Q, and for individuals and organizations in need. I was able to help raise approximately $5000 in the past year alone that went directly to these groups or individuals. I am currently working with Joshua Marcus (of Fan of Friends and Like Moving Insects) and helping him promote and plan his musical endeavors. I am currently working on producing a tour for Doctor and Philip in the Summer, as well as revamping the website to include representing many of the great works by local artists and musicians.
My work at The Green Line Cafe series has led to a very succesful series of extremely talented musicians. I have just completed a series of shows working with Danbert Nobacon (of Chumbawamba fame), and host five shows a month at both Green Line cafes. We have started a very successful Open Mic on the 3rd Sundays of each month. This work is a full time job that I don't get paid much for (although I am compensated well by the Green Line Cafe) It is a labor of love but in the same way, donations would make this work much easier. My future plans involve a five year compilation project, and on line magazine with musical and arts advisors including Jon Solomon of WPRB, Seth Jaquay of WHYME Podcast, A.D Amorosi (City Paper), Doug Wallen (Philly Weekly), Samatha Barrow (local poet), and Gina Renzi (of the Rotunda) to name a few. I will be putting out a local on line comp each year for sale as a download. The next few years will also be spent fundraising to open up my own space. This space will be primarily a performance space for films and music, as well as provide services to local artists and musicians including performance and rehearsal space, and equipment to produce Music and Video as well as general resources for organizers. I cannot do this work without money so however small or large a donation you can make will help these plans become a reality. I believe that the work I have done speaks for itself, and you can donate something to the cause. Please read the press below to understand more about Sherman Arts.
